Amazonite is a variety of microcline feldspar that forms deep within the Earth as molten rock cools slowly. This slow cooling allows large crystal structures to develop, creating the distinctive blocky formation and natural cleavage lines Amazonite is known for.
The blue-green colour comes from trace elements within the feldspar, while pale streaks and veining often form where quartz or albite minerals grow alongside it — a quiet geological collaboration millions of years in the making.
