Moonstone belongs to the feldspar family and its characteristic glow is caused by light interacting with microscopic layers within the stone – the optical effect known as adularescence.

Despite the name, Black Moonstone isn’t usually completely black. Its natural grey, brown and silvery tones are part of what gives it such a beautiful understated appearance.

Metaphysically, Black Moonstone is traditionally associated with intuition, emotional balance, new beginnings and protection. It combines the gentle energy traditionally associated with Moonstone with a more grounding feel.
