Blue Aragonite is a calcium carbonate mineral that forms as mineral-rich water deposits layers of aragonite over time, often within caves, springs and other sedimentary environments. Changes in the mineral content and conditions during growth can create the beautiful bands and variations you see running through the stone. The blue-green colouring is generally associated with trace elements, particularly copper.
