Despite the name, Bumble Bee Jasper isn’t actually a jasper at all. It forms around volcanic vents, where mineral-rich gases and fluids cool and settle in layers. Over time, this creates the bold bands and splashes of colour you see — mainly calcite, sulphur, aragonite and other volcanic minerals working together.

Those vivid yellows come from sulphur-rich deposits, giving Bumble Bee Jasper its unmistakable look and fiery personality.
