Larimar is a rare blue variety of pectolite, formed through volcanic activity millions of years ago.

Hot mineral-rich fluids moved through volcanic rock, allowing pectolite to crystallise. The distinctive blue colour comes from the presence of copper, which replaces some of the calcium within the crystal structure. This combination of volcanic heat, mineral chemistry, and slow cooling is what gives Larimar its unique ocean-like patterns.
